Scientology Mission in the Philippines — Typhoon Utor Response
13 12 2006
Typhoon Durian has strained the resources of
the country past capacity, with a quarter of a million families
displaced from their homes.
Durian hit late in typhoon season, which
usually ends in December. But if locals had hoped this would be the
last typhoon of the year, they were disappointed when the nation was
blasted by another one today. Although it didn’t cause anywhere near
the level of devastation of Durian, when Typhoon Utor hit today the
country was still trying dig out from the damage caused by the earlier
storm.
There is a small Scientology mission in
Manila but they do not have the resources to cope with the magnitude of
help that is needed. Those who can leave for the Philippines to join
the Scientology Disaster Relief Team are urged to contact the
International Scientology Volunteer Ministers Coordinator or the VM
coordinator at their local Scientology church or mission.
